Dedicated Server

In Web Hosting, a dedicated server is a single Web server leased to you for the purpose of hosting one or more sites. Depending on your contract with the provider, you may be responsible for administration on the server, or it may be a managed server that requires little maintenance.

Dedicated servers are usually located in a server farm or office belonging to the hosting company. It is possible to set up your own server with a high-speed line, but this usually costs more than leasing a server. Colocation (hosting your machine at their location) is another option.
